The name of this program is Secure-surf.net “Virus” and according to reports, it manages to modify the internet settings of Chrome, Firefox or Explorer by forcefully changing the homepage or search engine and redirecting most of the users’ web searches to different intrusive pages full of ads, pop-ups and nagging sponsored messages. If you landed on this page because you experienced a similar disturbance, then this guide is just made for you. The activities, which we described above, are common for one type of software known as browser hijackers and judging by the way that Secure-surf.net “Virus” operates, it obviously falls into their category. If you’re wondering what exactly a browser hijacker is, don’t worry because in the next lines, we will tell you everything you need to know about them – where they spread, how they get inside your system and how to effectively remove their nagging modifications and uninstall them completely. So, let’s shed some more light on the subject.

What should you know about browser hijackers in general? Browser hijackers are a specific group of software, which comprises all the programs, which usually invade your browser in an aggressive way. Secure-surf.net “Virus” is a typical example of this software group and its behavioral traits just prove that. This program is referred to by a lot of users as a source of some unwanted and unapproved changes in the affected browser as well as a generator of incredible amount of annoying ads, pop-ups and different promotions.

Oct 11, 2005. When using applications that use the internal SecurSurf proxy (IE by default), you appear to the outside world as a member of some Malayesian tribe, i.e. At least you get such an IP. However, you need additional measures in order to be completely anonymous, deleting your old cookies for instance. Jul 20, 2007. SecurSurf free download. Get the latest version now. Software which creates a encrypted tunnel between your computer and our server.

Basically, what this browser hijacker can do is it can replace your favorite search engine or homepage with some new and unfamiliar one, start bombarding your screen with ads and redirecting most of your web searches to some unknown websites, promotions and new tabs, which may be very aggressive and hard to close. The real reason behind this aggressive advertising invasion is usually money and a lot of programs like Secure-surf.net “Virus” are effectively involved in that. They bring profitsfor their creators thanks to Pay-Per-Click campaigns or some sponsored advertisement positioning every time you click on some of the displayed ads and links on your screen. For the users who have to deal with the flow of ads and redirects, however, there is hardly any actual benefit apart from eventually bumping into some good offers among all the displayed pop-ups. That’s why, most people simply find no good reason to keep Secure-surf.net “Virus” on their system and prefer to uninstall it and to save themselves from the advertising invasion.

How do browser hijackers spread? Usually, some of the most effective methods that programs like Secure-surf.net “Virus” use to get installed inside the users’ system is to bundle themselves in a free setup along with some other attractive program, which the users would love to install.

This way, when users get the main program and run its installer, (especially if they skip customizing it through the Advanced/Custom/Manual option and simply follow the automatic installation steps), they unknowingly install the browser hijacker along with the program they desire. This happens because in most of the cases, the presence of the additionally bundled software is not clearly indicated unless the users check for it manually. That’s why, our advice for you is to always customize any setup that you want to run. This is especially valid if it is distributed for free, because such bundles are mostly distributed for free and can be found on different freeware, shareware or torrent sites, as well as free download links from the web, spam, automatic installers and even some intrusive ads that prompt you to click and download some free software or application. If you can, the best is to avoid such software sources in general, because you can never be sure what kind of programs they may contain and sometimes, apart from nagging but harmless pieces like this, they may hide some nasty threats like Trojans, Ransomware and different viruses, which you would definitely not like to have on your machine.

Why should you consider uninstalling Secure-surf.net “Virus”? If this sounds comforting, not only you, but a lot of online users find browser hijackers extremely irritating, nagging and even disturbing and are looking for ways to remove them. The reason is that there are some potentially unwanted effects that this type of software may cause. For example, Secure-surf.net “Virus” may heavily interrupt the normal browsing with its unstoppable flow of ads and redirects.

What is more, it may have access to your history of searches, bookmarks and latest web activity and use this data for its nagging advertising purposes. Sometimes, it may even cause the hijacked browser to freeze or crash suddenly, or become totally unresponsive to your searches. This intrusiveness, though not malicious, can irritate some of the users to such an extent, that they may even mistake Secure-surf.net “Virus” for some nasty computer viruses. Fortunately, the above described unwanted effects are not related to any virus or malware from the rank of Ransomware or a Trojan horse, but can still be very annoying. So, if you feel like getting rid of them, you can easily do that by following the steps in the removal guide below.
